"Enhancing Civic Competence for Social Accountability" rolls out to Kyegegwa District.

In a meeting held at Kyegegwa District Local Government headquarters yesterday 09 August 2012, the District welcomed the idea and promised to cooperate.
The meeting was attended by the RIC-NET ICT staff Charles Asiimwe and Yosia Baluku, the Chief Administrative Officer, District planner Mr.Kutesa and District population officer Mr. Dan Musinguzi.
In his remarks the ICTO RIC-NET introduced the project “Enhancing civic competence for social accountability” to the District staff. He also told the meeting that among the components of the project was the design of the District websites and that Kyegegwa happened to be one of the beneficiary Districts in the Rwenzori region. He also told them that the other component would be training of the District staff especially the one that the District would have chosen to be focal for this project such that they could update their site themselves since one of the challenges have been maintenance costs by Districts to keep their sites updated and online. He also told them that the site hosting would be paid for during the project period and there after the District would take complete charge.
He further shared the website design concept and RIC-NET profile with them (District) for more analysis and understanding the whole idea better. Also discussed in the meeting was how to proceed where the explanation was to have an agreed upon M.O.U that would commit both parties to work.
In his remarks the District planner thanked RIC-NET and partners for the wonderful initiative and that it was really worth for the District to have a website to increase information access and sharing and also more popularity to the outside community.
The C.A.O also was happy about the project and promised total support. He said he was going to get time to go through the concept and company profile. He also promised the following;
v  The District planner to be focal for this since the District currently has no Information officer
v  And that he was going to present this development to the District executive to buy without any objection.
Also another agreed upon issue was to share the draft M.O.U with them so that all can be tabled and presented to the executive at once.
