‘Iam ready to become an Internet wizard’, said one of the members who attended a discussion between RICNET and Kyenjojo District Planning technical Committee (TPC) , at the council hall on 31st October 2011.The meeting was chaired by the District Chief Administrative officer( CAO),Mr.Katehangwa Samuel. The main issue was to discuss the idea of establishing the E-society at the District with the objective of ‘access to information sharing for socio-accountability’. The Executive Director RICNET highlighted the need for the E-sociey;
- To strengthen information sharing
- For timely access to information
- Involvement of greater majority
He gave an illustration of www.kaseseelibrary.org as channel being used by Kasese district members in sharing information.
The members raised issues concerning the project, some wanted to know whether there are costs associated with the establishment of E-society, sustainability of the project as well as the level of utilization of the centre by the local people.
The team appreciated the initiation of the establishment of an E-society and said they were ready to become ICT experts.
