CHURCH CHOIRS AND BODA-BODA CYCLISTS TO BECOME U-REPORTERS.

Caroline and Alice-RIC-NET Information Officer  share in the meeting.
In a meeting conducted at RIC-NET boardroom on 19/02/13, the RIC-NET staff; Program Manager, Information Officer and Administrative Secretary together with the U-report program Officer – Caroline Barebwoha appreciated that as much as the U-report database had increased to 188,686 in the country, there is still need to recruit more u-reporters given the various silent service delivery challenges in the community.

The meeting whose purpose was to share RIC-NET’s work plan for U-report activities, and ideas on how U-report/UNICEF can support RIC-NET and also work even better discussed several things ranging from conducting routine u-report trainings in the community, targeting already established and or organized groups in the community such as church choirs, boda-boda cyclists associations and academic institutions;  running radio jingles on u-report to create more awareness about the platform, engaging active U-reporters in the region in the different U-report activities organized by RIC-NET, liaising with radio presenters to promote U-report during their programs  to putting up village phones for youths without phones to use for reporting among others.

A work plan of how these activities will be implemented was developed and shared with U-report together with recorded radio jingles on U-report.
Caroline (in red) shares the objectives of the meeting with the RIC-NET staff at RIC-NET boardroom.

If this work plan/strategy is implemented as planned, U-report profile in the Rwenzori region will be boosted and taken to another level; with more members of the community recruited as u-reporters and more awareness about the platform created in the Rwenzori region.
