As the central  role of  RIC-NET to  promote  the use of  ICT in development work, yet this morning of 27th  November 2012 another tool was   introduced  to the partners  who  attended a training at st Joseph's inn Virika in Fort-Portal town. with participants drawn from RIC-NET, RWECO, Guide radio in kasese & Life Fm in kabarole. The trainers guided the partners on how the TRAC FM is used, according to Wouter,

facilitator opens the session  at the training

TRAC FM is a soft ware that enables active public debate and participation of  citizens in monitoring and reporting on  issues of  public service delivery.  with the  soft ware, listeners contribute to the debates during the  radio talk shows  through a toll free sms line. in the  case  of Rwenzori  listeners will  text  to  8585 on Life Fm, Guide Radio and Voice of kamwenge Guide, to give their opinions on the topics that will be generated by the CSOs.The trainer also explained that TRAC FM has a binding effect with the listeners  to the extent that it can  disaggregate the respondents  in terms of age, sex, location and occupation. patricipants also  discussed   practical issues in servive delivery affecting the citizenry in the Rwenzori region as  poor water facilities, detoriating education standards among others and how such problems can practically be  transformed to an opinion poll . RIC-NET partners will generate opinion topics  from  monitoring the service delivery issues that highly affect the citizens in the Rwenzori region.
While closing the training, the Executive Director RIC-NET, Mr.Murugahara John mentioned that TRAC FM is meant to  enrich CSOs radio programs making  them  more interractive  compared to the past times where would refer to the number of listeners as  many people without the exact statistics . he challenged participants to strart engaging  the tool in the CSOs radio programs as soon because its  easy to use and even at the end of the year CSOs can  refer to it while compiling their annual reports.
