The Kilembe floods majorly serious effected
residents and different education institutions in the area! Bulembya
primary school was the most affected, with a whole block swept away by water
(River Nyamwamba). The school has been provided Tents courtesy of UNICEF to
accommodate the classes that were swept away by the flooding Nyamwamba River.
This was witnessed on Friday when RIC-NET staff visited the school to offer support to the children.
the school has suffered from two waves of floods, in May 2013 and May 2014. it's second wave floods that destroyed the school property and buildings. This time, many NGOs did not offer support as during the 2013 floods claiming its no longer an emergence. The head teacher revealed that most NGOs says that Government should have done something since may 2013 floods but they official seem not to mind about the school.
RIC-NET gave out 500 pens and 1584 exercise books
to the pupils as their
sympathy to them.
The Executive Director RIC-NET Mr. John Silco in his remarks
said there is still a room for the school to develop and work perfectly; he
encouraged teachers not to retard but to help the young generation.
The Bulembya School Head teacher thanked the team for having
got such a heart to go and sympathize with them and said that if all Ugandans
had such “big hearts”, Uganda would be a better country.
