HOPE RESTORED AMONG THE CONFLICT AFFECTED GIRLS

RIC-NET with support form Global Fund for Children has been implementing a project titled Advancing dignity for vulnerable children and youth in Rwenzori region since 2014.The project offers psycho social support ,reproductive health ,provides sanitary material to conflict affected girls in secondary schools. The project also equips conflict affected girls who have dropped out of school with vocational skills such as tailoring. The girls are also given reproductive health education and  skills support to babies of young mothers as the mothers attend their training. After training the girls are provided with start up kits on completion of their training.

RIC-NET trained 10 conflict affected girls with  tailoring skills and computer skills at Bundibugyo e-society centre in 2014 and 2015.The girls comfirmed to have got full knowledge about what they had been trained. It’s upon that background that RIC-NET decided to offer the girls startup kits to help them put their skills at work. The function of handing over these kits to the girls was officiated by the Chief Administrative Officer of Bundibugyo district Mr. Jimmy Comb.

In his speech, Mr. Jimmy thanked RIC-NET for the good work done in advancing the dignity of the girl child in Bundibugyo. He further thanked RIC-NET for establishing an E-society centre in Bundibugyo. As he concluded, Mr Jimmy informed RIC-NET that the spirit of helping should not stop because there are many more girls that need RIC-NET support and urged the girls to be more hard working to improve their lives .
